Fuschia and Blue Look

Fuschia and Blue

My top “Must-Have” List

I often get people asking what products I use or what I would suggest as a good brand for certain area’s of the face.
So without further delay, I present to you…

My top “Must-Have” List!

Base
Dr.FeelGood, by Benefit Cosmetics, is a wonderful base. It is said to be applied AFTER foundation but I apply it on a naked face and it helps with evening out the skin tone and helping makeup last much longer. Bases are very essential for makeup application and makes a world of a difference!
(Available at Tangs or www.benefitcosmetics.com)

Concealer
I SWEAR by this concealer. I REALLY do! Its creamy and conceals well. Infact just one layer does wonders. It comes in 3 different shades that caters to all our Asian skintones.
Brand name: MAVALIA
(Available at Sasa)

Eyeshadow Base
I’m always asked how I make my eyeshadows so bright and bold. Well its simple, really. Eyeshadow base. Its the most important part of makeup! And UrbanDecay’s Potion Primer is one of the best there is out there. Its not available in Singapore but I strongly suggest buying this primer online. The creamyness glides on smoothly on your lidand makes eyeshadow application so much smooth and better for blending.
(Available at
www.urbandecay.com)

Brows
When filling in brows, it’s always best to opt for powdered eyeshadow, rather than pencils that can give a harsher look. Pencils work best for drawn on brows but for filling in sparse brows, its always best to use powder shadow. And this BrowSet by Mac, which comes in a variety of shades, does the best job.
(Available at Tangs, Isetan, VivoCity, Takashimaya, DFS and
www.maccosmetics.com)

Blusher
The best powder blusher I can think of is by Cargo. They have a variety of pretty shades and colours that don’t appear too strong on the face. A subtle hint of shimmer that comes along with each swipe of colour. Apply one-two layers for a natural look and more layers for a classic sculpted look
(Available at
www.cargocosmetics.com )

Highlight
Mac’s Mineralized Skin Finish are often limited edition products. But when they DO come out, its always wise to grab em! They not only add a healthy glow to your skin, but also has a very sheer touch of colour to it. This can eb used as a bronzer for tanned skin too as the sheer glow of it gives you a very sun-kissed look
(Available at Tangs, Isetan, VivoCity, Takashimaya, DFS and
www.maccosmetics.com)

Lipgloss
My all time personal favourite lipgloss is by Bloom! What i love about Bloom Lipglosses are that their colours don’t come on too strong and some even have a nice scent to it!
(Available at Sasa and
www.bloomcosmetics.com)

Mascara
If there was ONE brans I could bring back to Singapore..it would be COVERGIRL!! I don’t know why they took it away but it’s an amazing brand! I ONLY use CoverGirl’s Mascara. They don’t weigh down your lashes and they make application a breeze. THIS is the answer to girls who ask if Iuse FakeLashes :)
Why bother when this mascara gives you the same effect..
(Available at
www.covergirl.com)

Pencil Liner
There are tonnes of brands on the market that provide pencil liners but one of my favourites is the Powerpoint Range by Mac. They glide on easily and doesn’t smudge. Try dipping the pencil into Mac’s Fluifline for a much more longer lastng and more itnense look
(Available at Tangs, Isetan, VivoCity, Takashimaya, DFS and
www.maccosmetics.com)

These are just few of the products that I would suggest to other makeup fanatics out there. Hope this helped! :)

Thank you all for your support

“The desired effect in makeup can only be achieved if you employ the right techniques, choose the right color, and use the right tools.”

Makeup has always done amazing things for us. (I’m not saying women alone cuz it can do wonders for men too) Makeup not only improves our appearance but also make’s us feel better about ourselves. This may not apply to all. Some people are not used to or simply hate the idea of having makeup on their face. and that’s not a problem cuz I’ve seen MANY of my clients who are naturally gorgeous! Pretty smiles, sharp features, lovely eyes…etc

Being a makeup artist was something I NEVER in my 22 years, imagined I would be. I always thought I would be a Teacher. Well ok, since I’m giving makeup classes, I guess I AM still teaching :) But to find that my passion, my true calling, my forte, lies in Makeup.. This, i had never dreamed. I don’t have any regrets. From nasty clients, to unhappy clients, to untrusting clients etc…
You people may think you have run me down by degrading me but really, You have only made me stronger, and I Thank You :)
You can’t please everyone in life. At the end of the day, I know I have done my part, my best, and if that doesnt make you happy, then I would sincerely apologize

A makeup artist will never (in my opinion), have learnt enough. You keep learning as you meet new clients, as you meet more professionals like yourselves. Someone once asked me “So now that your Diploma is done, what’s your next step?”
The steps to learning is never ending. You keep learning.
Learning new things,
learning from mistakes,
learning from others.

I have gotten to know few makeup artists over the years and it’s always fun being able to exchange tips and techniques. The ones that I absolutely abhor, are the snotty ones who think very highly of themselves just because they have done makeup for Celebrities.
And then people ask me, if I have ever dreamt of being a makeup artist for some high profile celebrity.
When I look at celebrities makeup, they look amazing of course.
Fresh, glowy, natural, etc
But as exciting as it may be to be able to doll up people of such status… Its just not ME
I am who I am, because of my fascination and passion for bright bold colours.
I’ve always loved having boldness stand out on your face interms of makeup and focusing on someone’s features.
That doesn’t mean I don’t do light looks cuz I do, of course. (One example is the post before THIS. Raziah’s bridal makeup)
But if the day comes that I was offered a huge sum of money to do makeup for some high profile celebrity who like’s natural looks.. I’d decline.
Money is nothing ..
Why let money over run my passion?
I won’t change my way’s just for money. I love what Im doing now
I really do :)
Meeting so many new faces every day. 99% of whom, are total gems, so friendly.

I’m often over worked…
For instance on Saturday I had wedding makeup for a couple which began at 630am and lasted till 1130pm. From photoshoots to dinner reception etc.
And the enxt day, Sunday morning, I had another shoot at 9am.
I often whine about being sleepy but not once do I complain about having to do my job.
Because you see…
THIS is my passion
THIS is what I love
and what i plan to do till I can’t anymore.
My passion really drives me to go all out and I have to REALLY say thank you to you guys for making ME feel special.
Your kind words of encouragement is what drives me to work harder and to never give up.
My clients (past and current)
My blog readers
My “Sassychix Makeup” Facebook members
My “Freelance Makeup Artist” Friendster members

Thank you
:)
