Motorola Press Conference (Launch of 5 new HP models)
Yesterday was a pretty hectic day for me, but everything turned out well, so I’m very satisfied. My day started off at 6am. I headed to Yishun for Yoges’s ROM Makeup & Hair. (No pics yet)
Yoges, if you’re reading this, I have to tell you, you looked absolutely stunning yesterday! (I’m not saying it cuz I did your hair & Makeup), you were really radiant yesterday, just like how all bride’s are
After tha, I headed down to Conrad Centennial Hotel where they were holding a Motorolla Press Conference. They were having the launch of 5 new Phone models and I was hired to do makeup and hairstyling for the 4 lovely models. I had Su (cosmoprof) help me out with makeup & hairstyling. It kinda reminds me of last year when I did the makeup for Philips Active Crystals Launch. It’s always exciting to see new gadgets before anyone else does!

You have no idea how much I appreciate this.
I am where I am today, thanks to all of your supprt and encouragement.
Edit:
Got this off http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view.php?cid=18&id=2664
“Held at the Conrad Centennial on the 20th of August, Motorola gave a detailed walkthrough of their product strategy and planning, with the introduction of its upcoming five mobile devices, segmented to achieve the demands of the varying consumer needs. Just short of two months ago, the joint collaboration by Motorola and Kodak came to fruition in the form of the first 5-megapixel camera phone under the Motorola branding, the Motorola ZINE ZN5 . Adding to the list are four other devices that’s slated to be released in Singapore in the ensuing months, ranging from the business-centric Motorola MING A1600, to the phone-first series of devices that includes the Motorola EM330, Motorola W388 and finally Motorola VE538.”
Eyeliners
“Eye liner is a cosmetic used to define the eyes. It is applied around the contours of the eye to create a variety of aesthetic illusions.”
(Source: Wkipedia)
I think if I was asked which was ONE cosmetic item I could not live without, I’d say EYELINER. It’s like a STAPLE for me! As the above quoted line says, eyeliner DEFINES the eyes. It sometimes also can accentuate the different eye shapes.
Here are some examples:
For Small eyes: With a dark toned eyeliner, outline the eye, intensifying the colour slightly at the outer edges of the eye, then slightly smudge. This will help smaller eyes appear larger
For Deep-Set eyes: Use a small amount of eyeliner, in a thin line for definition only along top lid and just at the outer corners along the lower lashline towards the outer edge. This will help to recess the hooded lid
For Asian eyes: There usually is minimal space on the lid. Apply eyeliner close to lashes to give appearance of a thickened lash line. Line the lower lid and smudge it to soften the line.
For Droopy eyes: If you find you have droopy eyes, this could help you out! A little extra eyeliner slanted upwards on the outer corners of the eye and further blended and subtly extended with shadow plus extra mascara on the top lashes

My top Recommendations for Eyeliners
Firstly, there are 4 types of eyeliners that are sold in the markets.
Pencil eyeliner, Liquid Eyeliner, Gel Eyeliner and Cake Eyeliner
Pencil Eyeliner
This is what is generally used by most people because its the easiest and pretty much fool-proof. But most people find certain brands smudge or fade away pretty quickly.
Here are my favourite Pencil Eyeliner brands:
Pencil eyeliners also comes in various colours and textures! Who say’s it has to be black all the time?
MY TIP: Line your eyes thinly all around and then at your lowerlashline, use a striking metallic blue! That’s a sure way to funk up any look without going overboard!
Liquid Eyeliners
Best known for its precise lines. Liquid eyeliners are ebst for your top lashline. DO NOT apply them to your lowerlashline/waterline as they may easily enter the eye and cause irritation.
Its always best to use WATERPROOF liquid eyeliners so that they don’t smudge or wear off easily.
MY TIP: When lining your top lashline, let it dry for a few seconds before opening your eyes. This will prevent colour transfer ontop your lid when you open your eyes.
Gel Eyeliner
Not many people are away of these last two eyeliners but I assure you, Gel Eyeliners can be your favourite product! Gel eyeliners are brilliant because they glide on smoothly with a brush and for most brands, they last a very long time.
Mac
(So far, Mac is still number one for their Fluidline Eyeliner. Other brands don’t have such rich intensity, nor are they as long wearing as Mac)

Gel eyeliners are used with a brush.
MY TIP: Using an angled brush is always a lot more easier and better to control. Gel eyeliners such as Mac’s Fluidline can be used BOTH on top AND lower lashlines
Cake Eyeliner
Not a very common product used, but I love it because they come in such amazing colours and they look so rich yet subtle!
MakeupStore
I love the intensity of the black and I find that they are waterproof and last a VERY long time.

Cake Eyeliners must be applied with a damp brush.
MY TIP: If you’re on a tight budget, instead of spending on a cake eyeliner, use your regular eyeshadows! That’s right, all you need to do is dampen a brush and swipe it through an eyeshadow (preferrably matte shade) and it’s as good as an eyeliner. HOWEVER, chances are they will not last as long as a cake eyeliner, but try using a base first, to ensure the eyeshadow liner lasts longer
NDP 2008 (090808)
9th August 2008… It was the final day, the actual day of Singapore’s National Day Parade. Though everyone was all excited about it finally being over, we were all pretty sad too cuz we won’t be seeing each other as much as before.
But we had an awesome time yesterday at the Media Lounge where me and my team did the makeup. I didn’t get to catch the show (obviously) but I had friends calling me and saying “Mathilda’s makeup is SO your style! You did it right??”
LOL its kinda flattering to know people recognize my style of makeup

Mathilda was SO SWEET. She gave me a lil token of her appreciation for doing her makeup for the past few weeks
Last but definitely not the least, my lovely team.

The 3 of us were appointed as the official makeup artists for the Media Artistes
I never knew them till last month when we first started doing NDP makeup and in just a matter of 2 months we’ve become friends. They’re really amazing and talented girls.
Thank you for being such great friends Nancy, and Su

Caring for your lips
It’s that time again where I blog about makeup tips and tricks or my favourite products.
Today’s topic is based on your lovely puckers! That’s right, your lips.
Our lips are probably the first thing (other than our eyes) that catches people’s attention. Today morning as I was getting ready for work, I stopped at the mirror and just stared at my reflection for a while. (My mum thought I was crazy, playing with my lips infront of the mirror!)
But it’s true isnt it? Lips require care too but how many of us actually bother with lip care products?
Having done makeup for the past 3 years, I’ve realized that unless my clients’ lips are soft and supple, the lip makeup will have no effect whatsoever, despite it being a rich red or a pretty hue of pink. So much so that its become a habit of mine to carry around a lipbalm for my clients to apply onto their lips to ‘prep’ their lips before I can apply the lipstick shade of choice. Applying lipcare to your lips doesnt just refer to people with dry or chapped lips. Why wait for a problem to occur, before you begin the healing process?
Don’t just be thankful that you have soft supple lips today, instead, have a daily regime of caring for your lips.
Here’s some tips and tricks I’ve learnt:
LipBalm:
Lip balm is a substance applied to the lips to relieve chapped or dry lips. The main purpose of lip balm is to provide a thin layer on the lip surface to seal moisture in lips and protect them from external exposure.
(taken from Wikipedia)
Lipbalms don’t just help care for your lips, but they also ensures much more smooth lip makeup application. With that said, here are some of my preferred LipBalms

Rosebud Salve
(not available in SG)

Vaseline
(Easily available at Watsons or Guardian)

Kiehl’s Lip Balm
(Not too sure where else Kiehl s located but I know Vivocity has one on the first floor)
Or if you’re not very fond of using such manufactured products, here are some cheaper alternatives:
(source: http://www.carefair.com/)
Honey
Honey is an excellent choice as a treatment for a bad case of chapped and cracked lips because it is moisturizing and healing. Honey is safe to use on small cuts, and it is antibacterial so it will also keep lips from getting infected. Use honey on lips before going to bed at night, or apply throughout the day.
Olive Oil
Extra virgin olive oil is a good moisturizer for a case of dry lips, and can usually be found in just about any kitchen. For natural product choices out on the market, aim for a blend of olive oil and beeswax for a smooth consistency and thick coverage.
Aloe Vera
If the lips are chapped or over-dry from exposure to the sun, aloe vera might be a good choice for soothing and cooling the burn. Use the gel directly from a piece of aloe plant, or find a gel that is pure aloe vera for your lips. After using the gel from the inside of the plant, it can be broken open and the clear and wet inside flesh can be rubbed directly on the lips.
Shea Butter
Shea butter is extremely moisturizing and nourishing to the skin. and it is said to mimic the skin’s natural oils.
Apart from applying these products on your lips, its also VERY important to remember to DRINK MORE WATER. Keeping your lips moist is very important, to keep the skin hydrated.
But this DOESNT MEAN LICKING YOUR LIPS. This is because saliva takes the natural moisture out of your lips. Hard to imagine that’s true cuz you probably think you’re moistening your lips when in true fact, licking your lips are CAUSING your lips to dry out more! You can also EXFOLIATE your lips, by brushing them gently with a clean toothbrush once every fortnight.
Trust me, with soft luscious puckers, I’m sure you’ll be feeling all the more confident when smiling
NDP Rehearsals
Just got back from NDP rehearsals and totally zonked out. Whilst I was doing Mathilda and Kimberly’s makeup today, Suria’s camera man was recording me in the background whilst someone else was having an interview. And apparently few people called me at 8pm cuz they had seen me on TV!! LOL
Though they mentioned all they say was the reflection in the mirror of me doing someone’s makeup and they mentioned they recognized my ‘chubby hands’!
Riiiiiight.. Thanks
LOL
Anyways.. here are some pics from today’s NDP rehearsal
