Barry M Dazzle Dusts

Barry M is a pretty popular London brand that SHOULD come to Singapore(but it hasnt!). For those interested, however, you can purchase BARRY M Cosmetics at these websites:
BARRYM
ASOS

I managed to get 10 BARRY M Dazzle Dust shades and I absolutely love them! They are very intense and last long! I have taken the libery to swatch them for you so if you like the colours, you can purchase them from the above mentioned websites. Of course they have ALOT more amazing colours on their official website! Dazzle Dusts are like loose pigment eyeshadows. They are very pigmented and even more intense when applied WET!
They cost about  £4.50 each which is about SGD 10.30 each

Please don’t send me a msg to ask me if these are real or original. BARRY M is a reputable brand , famous in London, and many countries. I know alot of girls in Singapore who purchase Barry M products and love it! I would never promote fake items on my blog. I still don’t understand why there are so many girls out there who believe everything they see. So many websites and blogs  and facebook groups sell FAKE MAC and so many of you are being ripped off. Like I mentioned in an older blog entry, go ahead and purchase the fake brushes if you wish, they still work fine, just DONT be conned into paying such a large amount for somethign that IS NOT authentic! Also, all these FAKE MAC products that are being sold, I DONT recommend you buying them cuz you never know what has been mixed into these products. They are NOT authentic and any sort of product can be used for colouring etc. So it would be pretty darn silly to apply these products on your lips and eyes, without knowing what reaction they could cause.

If you do have any doubts, contact me :)

Not taking in any more for 30th/31st October

Ash Makeup in Singapore, what its ALL ABOUT!

So I was in town shopping with my girlfriend after work when I recall seeing a few ads for the launch of a new Makeup Brand “ASH” that was having its special launch at VIVOCity. So I suggested we head down to VIVOCity and my friend, being a makeup fanatic (and ex student of mine) totally agreed with going down to Vivo to check out the new makeup line. We reached Vivo and were greeted by loud music and commentary on ASH Makeup and we headed to the atrium to go check out ASH.

We walked in and saw a counter , filled with few items from ASH. There was a black lipstick, greyish eyeshadow, black nailpolish, loose powder and foundation. So the salesgirl attends to us and here’s the conversation!

 BE PREPARED!

SARAH: Is there only one colour? *pointing to the blackish grey eyeshadow*

SALESGIRL: Yes there’s only one shade.

So me and my friend found it weird, but the salesgirl then continues to pick up the loose powder and explains it to us. You would think that’s a pretty normal thing for a salesgirl to do RIGHT??

SALESGIRL: This is our loose powder. Have a sniff and tell me what it smells like to you?

So we sniff it, it smelt like burnt paper to me and my friend!

ME: What smell is this?

SALESGIRL: This is actually made of tar and cigarette ash

My friend and I just looked at each other but thought maybe it was some new found formula! After all, they MAC Cosmetics had a product called Volcanic ASH Exfoliator/Mask, so I thought maybe this was similar!
And then she reaches for the foundation and it looked a very oddly grey toned! She explains how its also made of tar and some other crazy substance (i cant remember what she said)

At this point, I was a lil confused and asked

Me: Who would use such a tone on their face??

THEN! SHE EXPLAINS….

This whole thing was a GIMMICK. A creative advertising method for an ANTI SMOKING CAMPAIGN!!
The products are not real makeup, my dear ladies!

They were created to show us, how you would look, if you SMOKE! So if you put on the greyyish foundation, and dusty grey loose powder, that was their way of showing you how you’d look like 10 yrs from now if you SMOKE!

 SERIOUSLY!!

Me and my friend broke down laughing!! On one hand I was upset because we went all the way down to see makeup! but the whole experience made us laugh! It was so hilarious and such an ingenious method of advertising!! Brought to you by the Health Promotion Board!!

Now THATmy dear ladies, is makeup with a cause!

Be more Professional

I would appreciate it, sincerely, if the messages sent to me, were sent with a little more professionalism.

I mentioned before, I reply to every single message I get, irregardless of whether I am available on the date requested. If I can take time out of my busy schedule to reply all your messages then I would really appreciate it if you took time to send me a proper message.

I get few messages with one liners, such as “How much for makeup” or “How much for bridal”

First off, your question is VAGUE. There are atleast 6 different answers to your question!
1) Which date do you require my service?
2) How many people require my service?
3) Do you require makeup services only? or hairstyling too?
4) What type of makeup do you require? Fashion? Basic? Corporate? Bridal?
5) What type of Bridal? Basic ROM makeup? Reception Makeup?
6) How many looks do you require? Any changes? Touch up required?

It shows a total lack of interest when you send me such messages. Every client needs to be able to build a good relationship with their makeup artist. As much as it is a professional relationship, its also one of trust. Because on your special day (be it your 21st birthday, your wedding, your friends function etc), you put your trust in your makeup artist and hairstylist to ensure you look good. So if you show a lack of interest in your message, then it doesnt portray a good impression, and trust me, neither will it make me, as a makeup artist, feel comfortable working with such a person.

I’m a very straightforward person, thus I’m here sharing this with all of you. Don’t take me wrong. I don’t require praises, or a formal message, I would just appreciate the respect from you when sending a message. I just require you to explain your message to me, rather than sending me a one liner.

Lets all try to be a little more professional, shall we?
Thank you
