REVIEW: ELIZABETH ARDEN Pure Finish Mineral Powder Foundation

Nothing beats coming home to a package! Especially a package thats got MAKEUP awaiting you!
Elizabeth Arden sent me Elizabeth Arden’s new Pure Finish Mineral Powder Foundation for a review.

The last time I got sent for an Elizabeth Arden product review, I wont lie, I didnt like the product. Ok well not that I didnt like it, I just never saw much (or any) results. So I didnt bother blogging about it.
But I was too darn excited to try out this new Mineral Powder! Infact, I got it yesterday evening and immediately used it on two ladies for their trial makeup. It was amazing! SO NATURAL looking! and today I started using it!! It comes with a really cute tiny brush, but PElizabethArden was sweet enough to send me the full sized brush too (OMG SOFT!) So I decided to keep the brush for the use on my clients and the lil powder puff for use on my own skin as I always prefer a heavier coverage.

Taken from media release:

You know how media releases of ANY product always makes you go “WOW” by just reading it, well rest assured, this powder PROOVES it too.

So basically its a pressed powder below this ‘grinder’, and you twist it, and the powder gets nicely grounded, so you get just the right amount, each time. I know when dealing with loose powder, it can get very hectic. Ive had instances when clients accidentally topple over my whole tub of loose powder and everything goes to waste. :(
So this little design is a very unique and waste-free design! I LOVE IT!

Do check out the Elizabeth Arden counters for your shades! My perfect shade was #2!! So fret not if you’re a lil darker/tanned, cuz they have up to shade #9! :)

DISCLAIMER: Product was sent to me for a review, and I did not pay for it. Im not obliged to say anything nice for the review, so whatever you read, are my own honest opinions.

MY THOUGHTS: I have been using MAC’s studio fix for pretty much all my makeup life (thats about the past 5 years?) and when I go to work on most days, I just slap on concealer and powder. and by mid day, 12pm, my skin looks oxidised and dry cuz Im in the airconditioned room. With this new Elizabeth Arden powder, I KID YOU NOT.. my skin looked fresh even at 5pm! I was AMAZED. I merely touched up my gloss and was on my way out. I will be continuing to use this for another week but so far, I like what I see. The only thing I DISLIKE is the size. TOO bulky to fit into most small sized makeup pouches.
RETAILING at SGD58.00

WILL I BUY IT AGAIN? YES! In fact I want to buy the various shades, darker tones especially to use on my darker/tanned clients! Im simply in AWE!

50% off Becca Cosmetics (Good variety of dark and light shades)

I’ve always been drawn to BECCA cosmetics (owned their eye shimmer once , many yrs back) but their prices are pretty pricey!

ESPECIALLY in Singapore! So imagine my excitement when I saw a lil temporary Sephora station at SUNTEC CITY! YES, SUNTEC!

and its ONLY till 31st Jan 2010!! SO HURRY!!

They mostly had concealers and foundation sticks so I stayed there for a good 15 mins, finding an appropriate concealer shade for myself. and Also didnt wanna leave till I bought their foundation sticks! Mainly because they had a variety of shades, especially darker tones! And majority of my clients are darker skinned, so I picked out one darker toned foundation, and one much lighter one, for my own clients usage. Who knows, if I like how it turns out, I may end up buying more. But the price (without the discount) is a huge turn off!

So anyways, if you are of a darker/more tanned skin tone, i STRONGLY suggest gng down to SUNTEC CITY’S lil sephora atrium and go find a suitable shade! Concealer AND foundation! I cannot promise that you will get your shade but you may find something close :)

QUALITY wise, I “JUST” started using the concealer today and SO FAR i like it. But only time will tell :)

REVIEW- Chanel Rouge Allure #81 (Spring 2010)

So I work at Arab Street, and thats like 7 mins walk to Bugis Junction. So whenever I go Bugis, I go down to the ATM Machine and that escalator is by the side of Chanel. And for the past couple of weeks, Ive been noticing the big ad for the Chanel Spring 2010 collection and what caught my eyes most was the yummy brownish lipstick!

So while waiting for a meeting with my client, I went up to the counter and checked out the items.

Without much hesitation, I got the lipstick!

My Thoughts: I am in LOVE with the colour! It comes off as a very natural shade and it is very creamy, which I LOVE! I hate lipsticks that make your lips feel DRY. The colour isnt as brown as the lipstick is. But when you use it with a brown based lip pencil (like the oen frm the collection) then you can get a lovely natural brownish shade! This is my first Chanel Lipstick, and the packaging amused me. Its not the usual two piece cover. Instead you need to push the base for the lipstick to come out! SO CUTE! :) Its lasting power deserved a 4 out of 5, but the colour, texture and packaging wins it 5 out of 5!  If you’re wondering if this lipstick would look good on you cuz you’re maybe fairer or darker than me, well in my opinion, I think this is a pretty SAFE colour. It turns out pretty neutral and glossy and doesnt appear too brown(like how it looks) , and neither is it too pale/nude on the lips!
Retails at Chanel counters for SGD44.

Will I buy it again? I might end up going back to stock up on these since its a Limited Edition collection!

Makeup for MANJA MAGAZINE

MANJA MAGAZINE celebrates its 10th year and I feel honoured to have been able to do makeup for an article in this issue. The Editor contacted me to ask if I could come up with 4 different party looks. Of course I said yes! Especially since it was for me to decide the looks! I decided on one classic red lip look, one flirty pinkish look, one edgy eyeliner look, and finally the glamarous smokey eye look.
Manja Magazine(its a MALAY magazine, for those who arent aware) hit the stands today(21stJan)! (Free cute wristlet too!)

BEHIND THE SCENES:

REVIEW: MakeupForever ALL MAT Primer

Dropped by MakeupForever a few days back. Been meaning to get my hands on the ‘All Mat primer’ but simply havent had the time to! One of my girlfriends had bought the All Mat late last year and has been raving about it NON STOP! I also saw some great reviews on several websites!

Both with the oil breakthrough and with the long-wear of my foundation. I usually have to use those oil-blotting sheets a few times throughout the day because of shine. Since using this primer, the oil sheets haven’t left my purse. My foundaiton also looks freshly applied throughout the day. This stuff really delivers. Overall, I’m VERY IMPRESSED

Sometimes I like it to use it alone, instead of my day cream (when I’m not wearing foundation) only because it gives my complexion a healthy look, it softness the skin instantly and mattifyes it without a hint of shine. My foundation last longer on my face without fading and even after a couple of hours my complexion is still matt and has a fresh look.

But of course, every skin is different and has its own needs, and what may work for some, may not necessarily work for others! I’ve tried it on myself as well as several of my clients.

Product info:
What it is:
An oil-free foundation primer designed to remove shine with long lasting results.

What it is formulated to do:
Mattifying powders absorb the excess of sebum and prepare the skin to help makeup stay. The silicone gel base, with it’s cotton-soft texture, leaves the skin matte and velvety.

What else you need to know:
Recommended for normal to oily skin. Non-greasy and oil-free.

My Thoughts: I love it because makeup DOES stay on longer. I normally touch up my concealer by 5pm, when work is ending, but with All Mat, I noticed how I didnt need to touch up. I just added powder to brighten my face. (When you work in an aircon room for 8 hours straight, it doesnt always do your skin good) I DONT have oily skin, but my nose tends to get slightly shiny , but when I apply AllMat, my nose doesnt look AS SHINY. Meanign to say, when I FIRST apply it, of course the skin looks matte but by mid day, it isnt a matte. but it also isnt as shiny. I have only tried it for 3 days so far, and SO FAR I like the results. Will continue to use it and note any obvious differences.

Will I buy it again? Most definitely!

EDIT:
I used the base on some of my clients from PanPacific few ngiths back for their D&D and one of them commented on my Facebook Page
