Cheap eyeshadows also have good colour payoff!
Posted by sarah | Filed under Daily Bread
Ive never been one to diss cheap products. Infact one of my most liked tutorials was a peacock one, done with colours frm a cheap UK palette sent by a friend!
I was walking around Illuma Bugis last week, and came across one of those beauty shops. Im sure you’ve seen so many around! They sell perfumes, cheaper makeup (VOV, COLEUR INC etc) and I was just itching to spend some money so I grabbed some eyeshadows.
They’re so pigmented that I think Im gng to go back for more!
This is the shop name, its connected to the new LINKBRIDGE (from Illuma to Bugis Junction

First was from L’Ocean

And another two from L’ocean but these were slightly more expensive (previous ones on top were abt $7, these were $9) and they were mooooore shimmery, and different label too

And from DODO…

Whilst playing with my new L’Ocean eyeshadows, I realized they reminded me of Elianto!
I bought ELIANTO from KL like 2 years back and bought an empty palette and filled up all 40 eyeshadows. Spent abt RM200 only! BUTTTTTT… I stopped using them. WHY? No particular reason.. Just like ALL my other palettes.. they get forgotten after a while! LOL
So I took them out and found them pretty similar…

QUITE similar!

If Im not mistaken, ELIANTO is available at Tampines but Im nt too sure of the price. It was abt RM4 when I bought them 2 yrs back! (thats abt SGD1.80 each!)
Elianto has very strong colur payoff but they broke easily (few of them if u see above), maybe thats why I stopped using em!
Anyways I told myself i shall depot these new shadows to make sure I use them!! ![]()

BROWS 101
Posted by sarah | Filed under Daily Bread
I’ve been asked many times, how I do my brows, how I manage them, etc.
So today I’m letting you in on my tips/techniques!
I guess I’m blessed that Im Indian, so I have thick hair! Thus my brows are pretty thick too! But they have come a LOOOONG WAY!
They used to be more thicker when I was younger, but eventually, after a teeny accident with a threading encounter, my brow shape became thinner. But in a way Im glad cuz I prefer having them this current size now:

So how do I manage my brows?
First off, Threading
For those of you who are not familiar with the term threading :
Threading is an ancient method of hair removal. A pure, thin, twisted cotton thread which is rolled over untidy hairlines, moustaches and so on, plucking the hair at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing where a single hair is pulled out each time, threading can remove an entire row of hair, resulting in a straighter line. However, due to a larger area of hair being removed at once, it can be quite painful for some.
My highly recommended threading salons:
Rupini’s @ Orchard (TEL: 67386261 )
Vanessa Beauty Salon @ Buffalo Road (TEL: 6293 9306)
Threading is not just restricted to Indians. These days, its a very common sight to see anyone and everyone getting their eyebrows or upper lips threaded. Even MEN go to get their brows groomed!
Once you got your desired shape, you can proceed to the next step.
If you have enough hair, then you just need to FILL IN your brows.
If you dont have as much hair, or if you normally shave off your brows, then you need to DRAW them in.
For DRAWING them in, you can use eyebrow pencils, easily available at most beauty brands, and shops.
For Filling them in, you can use eyebrow powders.
Reason being because, it gives a mroe softer, more natural finish, rather than using a pencil which gives a more harsh line (good for DRAWING)
My HIGHLY RECOMMENEDED EYEBROW POWDER:

Red Earth Absolute Brows, Brow Perfecting Kit
I’ve been using this for MANY years now and I LOVE IT!
This kit comes with TWO powder colours. and a wax.
The two powder colours are a great idea cuz you can decide if you want the lighter or darker shade.
(**Alternatively you can use brown shades of eyeshadows but they wont necessarily be as lasting or waterproof as this**)
(TIP: DONT EVER USE BLACK FOR BROWS. Even if hair is black, NEVER use black. Its way too harsh)
Always opt for a DARK BROWN, unless tyou have a light hair ,then opt for a lighter shade of brown.
This kit also comes with cute little mini tools! An angled eyebrow brush, a tweezer, and a spool.
PERFECT as it is!
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
I choose the brow colour I want, dip the brush into the powder, then fill in the brows and then dip the brush in the wax, and go over the brows again. The wax, acts as a sealant to ensure the powder colour stays, and it is waterproof, so dont worry if you get caught in the rain!
WHERE TO BUY?
So far I have only seen these at SASA. They retail for abt $25 or $29.
This kit comes in TWO SHADES. Mahogany and Brunette.

Invited for Shiseido Exclusive Interactive Workshop
Posted by sarah | Filed under Daily Bread, events
Yesterday was such fun! I think it was possibly the most FUN workshop Ive attended. All the other events I get invited for, doesnt encourage much interaction, but this workshop did, and I thank PEARLIN for the invitation, and IRIS of Shiseido for holding it ![]()

Iris of Shiseido ran us through the stuff for Shiseido’s latest spring collection, as well as their new matte foundation.
My opinion on some of the products:
EYESHADOWS: Colours appear too soft for my liking. But I like their slight gld undertone. I have yet to try them out on my own self, to give a final verdict. However colours, even though they were soft, were pretty much pigmented when swatched. (SGD43 EACH)
LIPLINERS: OH I LOVE! I have a weakness for lipliners! and these are SO creamy, they simply glide on! Im not a fan of the brush at the other end, but I would totally get the lipliners cuz of their strong colours that glide on so creamy, and dont dry out the lips!
LIPSTICKS: The lipsticks came in two types, TENDER SHEER and GLOWING MATTE. The Tender sheer was a pleasant surprise to me. Especially on SUPER dark brown lipstick, that came off as a REALLY sweet berry shade! So for people like me, who don’t favour too much colour on the lips, the tender sheer is indeed a great option as you get a hint of colour, without going overboard. The matte lipsticks were pretty normal. Creamy, yet matte. I liked the neutral shades! (SGD43 EACH)
LIPGLOSSES: Iris mentioned how they had some special gel formula to it, thus it wasnt soo sticky, and she was right. I tried on my goodiebag lipgloss later that night, and didnt find it too sticky or tacky on the lips. Various pretty shades, but of course I favoured the neutral shades best! (SGD 39 EACH)
EYELINER: OMG! Ok i didnt get to try any colour other than black but DAMN i loved the intensity!! SUPER RICH BLACK!! and after a while, I tried to wipe, but it didnt smudge! I will definitely be purchasing this soon!!
BLUSHERS: Soft colours with nice golden udnertones. MY absolute fav! I love soft colours for blushers and these came in really sweet soft shades. There also were two highlights. One was white, one was a natural shade. Both were lovely, but I like the white, cuz it looks MATTE but when you swatch it, you see how it has such a lovely sheen to it. AWESOME for highlighting the cheekbones, nose etc. (SGD56 EACH)

See the subtle gold undertones??

Lovely soft shades, and on the bottom LEFT, the white and neutral shade highlighter/bronzer

PRETTY lipgloss shades!!

Glowing Mattes

Tender Sheers

See how DARK the lipstick looks, but what a lovely soft berry-ish plum swatch you get

Lipliners ♥

Black eyeliner. So rich!!!

Iris gave us a sneak peak into some upcoming collection Palettes! SO PRETTY!!

There was also Shiseido’s professional hair team there to do some styles on us, as well as share some knowledge with us on some of their professional hairstyling products
Getting my hair styled

LOL OK i know it doesnt look likemuch, but the photo doesnt capture it well!! I normally have straight sleek hair, but he kinda gave it a toussled look!

Compare my hair here in this shot to the first few photos in the beginnin of this entry. You may see the difference ![]()

And some more group shots!

Our amazing goodiebags consisted of so much of stuff!
I will blog about them some other time, as this entry is already gettin pretty lengthy!

Even my kitty wants goodies!

REVIEW: MakeupForever PanStick foundation
Posted by sarah | Filed under Daily Bread
I have not only found my ALL TIME favourite PRIMER (MakupForever ALL MAT), but now I have also found a new love from MakeupForever! Its PAN STICK FOUNDATION!

I’ll be honest, stick foundations were NEVER up to my fancy. They are normally DRY, and always crease, and not to forget, very cakey on the face. But when I watched, one of my favourite Youtube Guru’s doing a short review on this MakeupForever Pan Stick foundations, I KNEW I had to give it a try.
I was pretty disappointed at the variety, not much shades. But lucky for me, I managed to find my EXACT MATCH! (PS: Don’t test the shades on your hand , test it on your JAWLINE for more accuracy. I was merely swatching the product for blogging purposes)

I have been using this for the past couple of days, with the MUFE ALL MAT primer below, and I must say, I LOVE IT!
I went for a barbeque party last night, I stood by the BBQ pit, and pespired for a while cuz of the insane heat. But when I went to check the mirror….
No touch ups were needed.
No under eye creasing.
No smudged makeup…
No dryness to my skin.
I am so amazed and SO in love with the TWO makeupforever products!
The foundation is now my new foundation (I used to use Bourjoius liquid foundation, but now Ive officially switched to this MUFE PanStick Foundation!)
If you’re the same skintone as me, Im using shade number 5W

MY THOUGHTS: The foundation is very CREAMY, not drying at all! Doesnt crease at the under eyes, especially with the help of the ALLMAT primer. Foundation stays on long, and doesnt dry up. It can be used with a wet or dry sponge, but I find it creamy enough to be used dry.
WILL I BUY IT AGAIN: You bet! I will be heading down soon to pick up more shades for the use on my clients!
RETAILS FOR SGD45.00
