Private Invite: Elizabeth Arden’s Launch of two new products
Posted by sarah | Filed under Daily Bread, events
I was recently invited to a private event for the launch of Elizabeth Arden’s two new products:
- Elizabeth Arden; GreenTea Lavender EDT
- Elizabeth Arden; Pure Finish Mineral tinted Moisturizer

Elizabeth Arden; GreenTea Lavender EDT

This lovely EDT has been in my handbag for the past four days. I carry it around everywhere! Simply because it has such a FRESH and CAREFREE scent to it.
I cant smell the green tea to be honest but the scent of lavender and other subtle hints of chamomile gives a very RELAXING feel to it. EDT(Eu de toilette) doesnt have a scent as strong or lasting as an EDP would have but I like this for an everyday use cuz its not overwhelming.
This will be available islandwide in Mid May 2010
RETAIL: SGD 59.00 (50ml) and SGD83.00 (100ml)
Elizabeth Arden; Pure Finish Mineral tinted Moisturizer
Ive mentioned many times how im not so big on skincare. I dont have a fixed regime that i religiously follow. So the hearing the word ‘moisturizer’ put me a lil off, cuz I thought to myself… “oh great, another moisturizer”
But I was wrong. This is a TINTED moisturizer. What? how? why??
“…Infused with microlight minerals, vitamins and antioxidants, this hint of sheer, natural color instantly transforms and perfects skin’s appearance with a fresh, luminous glow…”
and here’s the PROOF:

Coverage thats not too thick or cakey, but just enough to conceal minor flaws. And best of all, it gives you a GLOW! Who doesnt love a nice healthy glow??

Even better news : it barely, or doesnt, oxidise. I had it on from 8am, and by 9p30pm, I only needed to touch up my Tzone thanks to Singapore’s humidity! (of course i also set it with my Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Powder foundation.LOVELOVELOVE)
This tinted moisturizer comes in THREE shades. Im using 03, Medium

This will be available islandwide in Mid May 2010

SPONSORED: Laser Hair Removal at David Loh Surgery
Posted by sarah | Filed under Daily Bread, events
Early last month, I was sponsored one laser hair removal session at David Loh Surgery.
As mentioned in my blog entry HERE, I was a little apprehensive about going.
To refresh your memory, LASER HAIR REMOVAL is currently a more better option, compared to IPL. This is because IPL, though a more common hair removal process, can can destroy dark skin regions, and may cause irregularity in the skin colour with certain frequencies used. Thus LASER HAIR REMOVAL has now become a better alternative, or rather OPTION. So if you’re not exactly fair, then fret not, LASER HAIR REMOVAL is THE solution for you.
Now, before I jump into how good this process is and how everyone should go for It, Id like to share my HONEST opinions about it, and my very own personal experience with the session.
As shown in my previous BLOG ENTRY, you can see Dr.David Loh using the COOLGLIDE on the sides of my cheeks,
I basically opted for that part of my face, for TWO reasons.
(1) I did mention, how apprehensive and nervous I was, right? Well nervous enough to think something would go wrong and so decided to do it at the sides of my cheeks cuz, as I told myself “if anything goes wrong, I can use my hair to COVER it up” Thus I decided on the sides of my cheeks, rather than anywhere else visible like my upperlip or chin. Yes, I guess I might have over reacted, but Im only human, so naturally I got nervous!
And
(2) The hair at my sides of the cheeks are a lot coarser and thicker . And it’s a HORRIBLY painful task when I go for threading. MAJOR ouch!
So the day AFTER my session, I saw redness and freaked out. I saw bumps and started scratching cuz it was itchy. And like any other first timer who was dumb enough NOT to think, I went ahead and scratched myself silly. I then went online to do some further research and found out that the redness and bumps was a PERFECTLY normal sight and it would go down after a couple of hours or a day or two.
I also went down to consult with Dr.David Loh, just to make sure everything was doing okay. And he assured me it was a normal reaction to the laser hair removal and calmed my nerves down by prescribing me some cream to apply to the sides of my cheek.
Within 24 hours, the redness and bumps cleared!
I kid you not. Laser hair removal may scare you with the redness after the procedure but once it all clears up, WOW… you will be pleased.
I was very thrilled at how HAIRLESS (you get between 50-80% lesser hair growth after a few sessions) my skin was and how SMOOTH! I’ll be honest, Im a little jealous how the sides if my skin is now smoother than any other part of my face!
Three weeks after the procedure, I went for my usual threading session and the usual girl who does my threading, was very impressed at how there was very little, if not no hair growth at the sides of my cheek. And whatever little hair that WAS there, she claimed was removed VERY EASILY.
So yes, I did get freaked out initially but I guess I shouldn’t have scratched (or applied makeup !!) The results are indeed IMPRESSIVE and I would love to share this with ONE of my readers! The session that I went for, costs $250. You normally would require atleast 2-3 sessions, (varies accordingly) to see up to an 80% less hair growth!
One lucky reader of FACESBYSARAH will win a free trial session for LASER HAIR REMOVAL! (only applicable to females, currently residing in Singapore)

Rachel K Mineral Cosmetics
Posted by sarah | Filed under Daily Bread
Mineral makeup seems to be the hit with many lately. For me, I love a product, as long as it has the professional qualities and sure it doesnt hurt if they had a great packaging too.
Ive found one such product (amongst few others that I ADORE). Its the Rachel K Mineral Cosmetics. And Im not just saying that because Rachel Kum is an old friend. From a professionals point of view, I have ‘tried and tested’ the Pressed powder and found it to be alot better than what I had expected.
Rachel Kum is the founder of Rachel K Mineral Cosmetics and is our reigning Miss Singapore Universe 2009

When Rachel came up with her very own cosmetic line, I was super excited about tryin out her products! Its possibly every girl’s dream come true to have her own makeup line! And it wasnt just all play. Rachel spent TWO whole years researching. For those who know or have seen Rachel before, you’d know she has this lovely natural beauty about her. She doesnt need much(or any!) makeup. So it was no surprise that she came up with mineral cosmetic line that emphasises natural beauty.
An exerpt from her website:
“…Any true mineral makeup should reflect light, and the colour appears as if it comes from within. You can be rest assured that with Rachel K Mineral Makeup, your makeup will not look flat, chalky or grey but looks translucent and almost glowing.”
Rachel sent me one of her best sellers, the Pressed Mineral Foundation. I got mine in shade #6, LUSCIOUS.
My first impression: the powder is silky soft to the touch! and the sleek black packaging was a sure win, especially with the compact being so thin, and easy to sldie into any bag!
Tried & Tested: The powder is soft on the skin! The compact comes with a puff but I didnt fancy it as it was way too flat and thin for my liking. I switched to using my own sponge and loved how I could control the coverage. Lightly sweep it across the face for light-medium coverage and pack it on if you want fuller coverage! And lucky for mne, cuz shade#6 was a PERFECT match and went well on my skin. The powder stayed pretty long through out the day, without the use of a primer beneath. I needed slight touch up at my Tzone cuz it was a humid day but my under eye had no creasing.
Their Pressed powders comes in a variety of shades so do check them out!
Also their other star products would be the BB cream. So if youre a fan of BlemishBalms, then these should tickle your fancy.
Even greater news!

Makeup for Opening of Chaumet @ Orchard ION
Posted by sarah | Filed under Daily Bread, events
I was booked to do makeup for CHAUMET’s official opening at Orchard ION.
Here are some photos from my camera! The makeup had to be FRESH and natural (just in time for spring!) as the models had to showcase exquisite jewellery pieces. I recall one of the models wearing a $45,000 necklace!! GORGEOUS!
(official photos taken from LifestyleAsia.com)

These are the 4 models I did makeup for, whilst Andy did hair.

The models with Thierry Fritsch, President of Chaumet

REVIEW: Maquillage Spring 2010 Collection
Posted by sarah | Filed under Daily Bread
A couple of weeks back, I received some items from the lovely IRIS of Shiseido Singapore. She gave me some amazing products from Maquillage’s latest Spring 2010 collection

It consisted of:
- Shiseido Maquillage Eyes Creator (3D) in VI767
- Brow Wax
- 2 LastingRouge lipstick in PK753 & BE315
- Another Lasting Rouge lipstick(in a set with their latest Lipbrush)
Eyebrow Colour Wax

My Thoughts: I have to say I dislike this product, mainly cuz the colour is WAY too light for me. I have thick black eyebrows so this shade of brown(even though its the darkest shade in the range) is definitely not suitable for me. I personally prefer my brows dark. Im not saying this product is lousy. Its just not my cup of tea.
LastingRouge lipsticks

My Thoughts: I LOVE this lipstick. Its SOOOOOO creamy and the colours are soft and sweet. I dont favour bold lipstick shades so these were perfect. You can wear them for a casual gathering or pair it with dark eyes for a night out. The brownish shade BE315 is more of my favourite cuz I lean more towards natural lipstick shades. Its become a must-have item in my cosmetic pouch. I also love the sleek design of the casing. Cool silver metal with a pretty gem stone-like crusted at the tip. How girly! ♥

Maquillage Eyes Creator (3D) in VI767

Iris KNEW I have a soft spot for bold/dark shades so she gave me this palette. PERFECT!

This palette comes with:
- 3 lovely eyeshadows
- 1 cream bases
- 1 cream eyeliner
- 1 dual sided mini brush
- 1 dual sided sponge tip applicator

My Thoughts: Im a sucker for packaging and this has a lovely casing. The eyeshadows are a lil sheer (great if you dont want to go too heavy on the eyes) but can be layered for a more dramatic effect. The cream bases are SO pretty that you can even wear em alone! The black eyeliner is more suitable as a dark eyeshadow base, if you ask me. Id use the black as a base and apply the bronze-ish shade over. VavaVoom smokey eyes!

I will be creating few looks with the palette, to show you how versatile this palette is! So stay tuned
