REVIEW: Chanel Illusion d’Ombre Long-Wear Luminous Eyeshadows

I have to admit,I was SUPER excited for these cream/gel eyeshadows when I first read about the Chanel’s FALL 2011 Collection, on Temptalia.com ! However many of my fellow makeup junkies n beauty bloggers swatched them when they got released and were disappointed at how fast they were smudged off.
I was hoping they would be something similar to the MUFE AQUACREAM(which is a MAJOR hit with me!) but unfortunately, this Chanel cream/gel eyeshadow is TOTALLY NOT SMUDGEPROOF. nonetheless, the colours ARE still VERY pretty and they are VERY richly pigmented!

 

 

So i went down to swatch them for myself and I was disappointed when I could wipe them away with a gentle swipe. Thats when I realised these are probably not the best to be worn in the CREASE.

 

and as unlikely of me as this sounds, i actually only fell in love with the WHITE! I know..weird! someone who adores COLOURS GALORE, fell in love with WHITE??

but seriously though! You know how I always go on about how much i LOVE glow on the skin?? well I figured these would be perfect for that!

See these can be used as highlights on your nose bridge, cheekbones, and browbones. Infact I wore them on my browbones today for a shoot and immediately the stylist assistant looked at my eyes and said “I love your eye makeup, its so subtle yet so sparkly!” and thats exactly why I LOVE this. It is white but when you apply and spread it out, it is perfect on ANY skintone and has tonnes of shimmer that is perfect for a night out or just to add that slight “wow-effect” to your natural day makeup.

Earlier on today, I was doing makeup on a Mother for the Mother&Baby magazine and I applied it to her eyes as well as cheekbones as we were shooting outdoors and her cheekbones were glistening under the sun! It looked so PRETTY!

 

 

 

Also, here’s a lil COMPARISON of 2 other similar products:

GIORGIO ARMANI-EyesToKill cream eyeshadow
(Ive been using this for a few months now. they were a gift from a gf and I LOVE using it on my browbone daily. Just adds a pop of natural highlight. It isnt as smudge-proof as the MUFE aqujacream but definitely more smudge-proof than Chanel)
CHANEL- Illusion d’Ombre Long-Wear Luminous Eyeshadows
MAKEUPFOREVER -Aqua Cream eyeshadow
(waterproof, smudgeproof, creaseproof..need I say more?)

 

I waited 3-4 mintues and SWIPED at all three and only the MUFE stayed the most intact.

So overall, I still have to say Im VERY much pleased with my purchase of the Chanel Illusion d’Ombre Long-Wear Luminous Eyeshadows(S$52) , espcially since I know that it can be used for so many more places on the skin, other than the eyes. Ofcourse you cant really use it the same way for other colours, unless you fancy green or black shimmers on your cheekbones :D
