TheBodyShop MAGIC eyeshadows!

I was wandering around The BodyShop and this shimmer cube colours totally caught my eye! I normally see the duller tones(maroon/silver etc) but these colours were bright! LOVE IT!

The green & Blue are my fav of course!!

These are EyeShimmers! My bestie introduced them to me couple of months back. I was so amused when she showed me these “MAGIC” eyeshadows!

So they look like this… WHITE shadows with pretty blue-ish green and gold undertones

When swatched… at different angles, you can see the lovely iridescence!

But do you know what hapens when you LAYER them OVER BLACK eyeshadow??

They turn into the most gorgeous shade of GOLD and blue-ish green colours!!!

I know its not MAGIC but hey, its pretty cool!! :)

They have a big variety of colours so if you’re not a fan of BOLD colours, you can still go for their neutrals, browns etc…

So anyways this is my latest batch ordered…

PS: Before asking any qustions, let me explain a little bit more :)
SMH aka StarsMakeupHaven is an online website (and brand) that is NOT AVAILABLE IN SINGAPORE.
You can get them through ordering them online at thefollowing links below.

BobbiBrown Blusher & Shimmerbrick Haul

So I had $110 worth of Taka vouchers waiting to be spent , and yesterday I planned to use it to buy TWO shimmer bricks from BobbiBrown
I have been eyeing one for a while now.

SO I went down to get the NECTAR shimmerbrick and another colour….

BUT I saw their blushers and got tempted! FIRST thing I asked the SA, “Do you sell empty palettes?”
Her answer caused me to spend A LOT more than I expected!
They have either a 3 well, 4 well, or 6 well palette. And for their current promo, get any two eyeshadow or blusher and get the palette FREE!

I was so happy!!!!

I chose 4 lovely blusher shades (Coral for tanned skintone, Brown for contouring sinceits matte and VERY close to MAC Raiziin which is my fav, Plum for darker skintones, and Pink for fairer skintones…see when you’re a MUA, you dont tend to buy Makeup for yourself…)

but the NECTAR shimmerbrick is so damn pretty I cant help but want it all for myself!! :D

(SGD66 each)

I LOOOOVE the glow and slight wash of peachyness!!!

My blushers (SGD39 each)

REVIEW: THANN Rice Extract Body Milk

Untitled-1 copy

I was pleasantly surprised when the lovely Shirley from Thann, sent me two bottles of SeaFoam Rice Extract BodyMilk. If you click *here*, you’d read my previous entry on when I attended the private opening of Thann’s first ever concept store in Singapore.

At that point I wasnt very much interested cuz skincare wasnt a fancy to me. I mean sure, I take care of my skin but I dont fuss over skincare etc. But I remember falling in love with all the amazing soothing scents from the products at Thann. and best still, they were reasonably priced!
I had purchased their Aromatherapy Shower Gel (SGD20.00!)when I was there and within a week, the shower gel was almost gone! Cuz my younger brother was sneakily using it. When I questioned him, he told me the smell was too inviting! And it was true! The shower gel had such a enticing peppermint smell! Ohh thinking about it now makes me wanna go down to Thann and get two bottles!!

So this Rice Extract Body Milk that Shirley sent me, is basically made from the highest quality of Rice Bran Oil.
Untitled-2 copy

I got to admit, just the words “BodyMilk” felt very luxurious. But finding out that rice bran oil actually helps act as a SUNSCREEN, helps to PREVENT WATERLOSS and acts as an ANTI OXIDANT was very impressive!

When I first smelt it, it wasnt that great.. I thought to myself that it wasjust another average smelling lotion.. BUT, after applied it on my arms, I was closing the cap of the bottle when the smell suddenly hit me! And I could sniff out the enticing peppermint and Eucalyptus scent that got me going crazy over the previous Showe Gel I had bought! Im such a sucker for Peppermint and Eucalyptus! Its just an amazing soothing scent.

DSC03434 copy
Reading the back of the bottles, confirmed those scents, as well as the presence of Thyme, Rosemary etc…
If you’re a fan of aromatheraphy then I assure you, these products from Thann will hit the right chords for you! :)

Thann is available at many countires worldwide
Asia (Brunei, China, Indenosia, Japan, Malaysia, India etc…)
Europe( France, Germany, Portugal, Sweden, Poland etc…)

Cheap eyeshadows also have good colour payoff!

Ive never been one to diss cheap products. Infact one of my most liked tutorials was a peacock one, done with colours frm a cheap UK palette sent by a friend!

I was walking around Illuma Bugis last week, and came across one of those beauty shops. Im sure you’ve seen so many around! They sell perfumes, cheaper makeup (VOV, COLEUR INC etc) and I was just itching to spend some money so I grabbed some eyeshadows.
They’re so pigmented that I think Im gng to go back for more!

This is the shop name, its connected to the new LINKBRIDGE (from Illuma to Bugis Junction

First was from L’Ocean

And another two from L’ocean but these were slightly more expensive (previous ones on top were abt $7, these were $9) and they were mooooore shimmery, and different label too

And from DODO

Whilst playing with my new L’Ocean eyeshadows, I realized they reminded me of Elianto!
I bought ELIANTO from KL like 2 years back and bought an empty palette and filled up all 40 eyeshadows. Spent abt RM200 only! BUTTTTTT… I stopped using them. WHY? No particular reason.. Just like ALL my other palettes.. they get forgotten after a while! LOL

So I took them out and found them pretty similar…

QUITE similar!

If Im not mistaken, ELIANTO is available at Tampines but Im nt too sure of the price. It was abt RM4 when I bought them 2 yrs back! (thats abt SGD1.80 each!)

Elianto has very strong colur payoff but they broke easily (few of them if u see above), maybe thats why I stopped using em!
Anyways I told myself i shall depot these new shadows to make sure I use them!! :)

BROWS 101

I’ve been asked many times, how I do my brows, how I manage them, etc.
So today I’m letting you in on my tips/techniques!

I guess I’m blessed that Im Indian, so I have thick hair! Thus my brows are pretty thick too! But they have come a LOOOONG WAY!
They used to be more thicker when I was younger, but eventually, after a teeny accident with a threading encounter, my brow shape became thinner. But in a way Im glad cuz I prefer having them this current size now:

So how do I manage my brows?
First off, Threading
For those of you who are not familiar with the term threading :
Threading is an ancient method of hair removal. A pure, thin, twisted cotton thread which is rolled over untidy hairlines, moustaches and so on, plucking the hair at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing where a single hair is pulled out each time, threading can remove an entire row of hair, resulting in a straighter line. However, due to a larger area of hair being removed at once, it can be quite painful for some.

My highly recommended threading salons:
Rupini’s @ Orchard (TEL: 67386261 )
Vanessa Beauty Salon @ Buffalo Road (TEL: 6293 9306)

Threading is not just restricted to Indians. These days, its a very common sight to see anyone and everyone getting their eyebrows or upper lips threaded. Even MEN go to get their brows groomed!

Once you got your desired shape, you can proceed to the next step.
If you have enough hair, then you just need to FILL IN your brows.
If you dont have as much hair, or if you normally shave off your brows, then you need to DRAW them in.

For DRAWING them in, you can use eyebrow pencils, easily available at most beauty brands, and shops.

For Filling them in, you can use eyebrow powders.
Reason being because, it gives a mroe softer, more natural finish, rather than using a pencil which gives a more harsh line (good for DRAWING)

My HIGHLY RECOMMENEDED EYEBROW POWDER:
Resize Wizard-1
Red Earth Absolute Brows, Brow Perfecting Kit

I’ve been using this for MANY years now and I LOVE IT!
This kit comes with TWO powder colours. and a wax.
The two powder colours are a great idea cuz you can decide if you want the lighter or darker shade.
(**Alternatively you can use brown shades of eyeshadows but they wont necessarily be as lasting or waterproof as this**)
(TIP: DONT EVER USE BLACK FOR BROWS. Even if hair is black, NEVER use black. Its way too harsh)
Always opt for a DARK BROWN, unless tyou have a light hair ,then opt for a lighter shade of brown.

This kit also comes with cute little mini tools! An angled eyebrow brush, a tweezer, and a spool.
PERFECT as it is!
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
I choose the brow colour I want, dip the brush into the powder, then fill in the brows and then dip the brush in the wax, and go over the brows again. The wax, acts as a sealant to ensure the powder colour stays, and it is waterproof, so dont worry if you get caught in the rain!
WHERE TO BUY?
So far I have only seen these at SASA. They retail for abt $25 or $29.
This kit comes in TWO SHADES. Mahogany and Brunette.
